Plot Summary

The film is set in a hidden village of yetis on a high mountain in the Himalayas. The yetis live according to the rules written on ancient stones that are worn by the Stonekeeper (Common), the leader of the village. The stones tell the yetis that they are the only living creatures in the world, and that they must never go below the clouds, where there is nothing but fire and pain.

Migo (Channing Tatum) is a young yeti who is happy with his life and his job as a gong ringer, following in the footsteps of his father Dorgle (Danny DeVito). He is also smitten with Meechee (Zendaya), the Stonekeeper's daughter and the leader of a secret society of yetis who question the stones and seek to learn more about the world. One day, Migo witnesses a plane crash and encounters a human pilot, whom he calls a "smallfoot". He tries to tell the other yetis about his discovery, but no one believes him. The Stonekeeper banishes him from the village for lying and breaking the stones.

Migo meets Meechee and her friends Gwangi (LeBron James), Kolka (Gina Rodriguez), and Fleem (Ely Henry), who are part of the Smallfoot Evidentiary Society (S.E.S.). They offer to help Migo find the smallfoot and prove his story. They use a makeshift parachute to descend below the clouds, where they find a human town. There, they encounter Percy Patterson (James Corden), a wildlife documentary filmmaker who is struggling to regain his fame and credibility. Percy sees Migo and decides to film him, hoping to make a viral video that will boost his career. However, he also tranquilizes Migo with a dart gun, intending to capture him.

Meechee rescues Migo and takes him to a nearby cave, where they communicate through music and gestures. Migo learns that humans are not as dangerous as he thought, and Meechee learns that there is more to the world than she imagined. Meanwhile, Percy's assistant Brenda (Yara Shahidi) tries to convince him to abandon his plan and leave the yeti alone, but Percy refuses. He also rejects a call from his estranged daughter Emma (Kaitlyn Robrock), who misses him.

The next day, Migo decides to return to his village with Percy as proof of the smallfoot's existence. He puts Percy in a bear costume to disguise him from the humans. Along the way, they encounter a group of angry yak herders who chase them. They also run into Dorgle, who followed Migo's tracks and came to apologize for not believing him. Dorgle joins Migo and Percy on their journey back to the mountain.

When they arrive at the village, Migo presents Percy to the other yetis, who are shocked and curious about him. The Stonekeeper takes Percy away for questioning, while Migo reunites with his friends and family. The Stonekeeper reveals to Migo that he knows about the existence of humans, and that he has been hiding the truth from the yetis for their own protection. He shows Migo a secret chamber where he keeps various human artifacts that he has collected over the years. He explains that long ago, the yetis and the humans lived in harmony, until the humans attacked the yetis with fire and metal. The yetis fled to the mountain and created the stones to keep the yetis safe and ignorant. The Stonekeeper warns Migo that if the yetis learn the truth, they will either go to war with the humans or be exposed and endangered by them.

Migo is conflicted, but he ultimately decides to trust the Stonekeeper and lie to the yetis that Percy is just a hairless wild yak. He tells Percy to go back to his home and never return. Percy agrees, but he also secretly records Migo's voice with his phone. Migo's friends are disappointed in him for lying, and Meechee is heartbroken. Percy leaves the village with Brenda, who followed him to the mountain.

As Percy and Brenda drive away, they are stopped by a police officer (Jimmy Tatro), who recognizes Percy from his video. Percy plays Migo's voice on his phone, hoping to prove that he was telling the truth about the yeti. However, the officer thinks that Percy is making fun of him and arrests him. The phone falls out of the car and is picked up by a young yeti named Gwangi Junior (Justin Roiland), who is fascinated by it.

Gwangi Junior shows the phone to Meechee, who recognizes Migo's voice and realizes that he lied to her. She decides to go after Percy and bring him back to the village. She is followed by Gwangi, Kolka, Fleem, and several other curious yetis. Migo sees them leaving and tries to stop them, but he is too late. He then confronts the Stonekeeper and accuses him of being a liar and a coward. He says that he believes that humans and yetis can coexist peacefully, and that he will not let the Stonekeeper control him or his people. He takes off his fur coat, which symbolizes his obedience to the stones, and throws it at the Stonekeeper. He then follows Meechee and the others to the human town.

In the town, Meechee and the yetis cause a commotion as they search for Percy. They eventually find him at a police station, where he is being interrogated by a news reporter (Patricia Heaton). Meechee breaks into the station and frees Percy, while the other yetis fight off the police officers. Percy reunites with Meechee and apologizes for betraying her trust. He also calls Emma and tells her that he loves her.

Migo arrives at the town and sees Meechee and Percy together. He is happy for them, but he also realizes that they have attracted a lot of attention from the humans, who are scared and hostile towards the yetis. He decides to create a diversion by ringing a large bell in the town square, drawing all the humans away from Meechee and Percy. He then tells them to go back to the mountain with the other yetis.

However, as they are about to leave, they are confronted by a helicopter that belongs to a rival filmmaker of Percy's named Dan (Jack Quaid). Dan has been following Percy's trail and wants to capture a yeti for himself. He shoots a net at Meechee, but Migo jumps in front of her and gets caught instead. Dan flies away with Migo in his helicopter, while Meechee and Percy follow him in a truck.

Dan takes Migo to a large stadium, where he plans to reveal him to the world as his discovery. He locks Migo in a cage and prepares to make his announcement. Meanwhile, Meechee and Percy arrive at the stadium with Brenda's help. They sneak into the backstage area and try to free Migo.

At the same time, the Stonekeeper arrives at the town with Dorgle and a large army of yetis. He sees the helicopter flying over the stadium and realizes that Migo is in trouble. He decides to put aside his fear and anger towards humans and help Migo. He leads the yetis into the stadium, where they cause chaos among the human crowd.

Dan sees the yetis invading his show and panics. He tries to escape with Migo in his helicopter, but he is stopped by Percy, who climbs onto it and confronts him. Percy manages to knock Dan out of the helicopter and take control of it. He then flies it back to the stadium and lands it on top of Migo's cage, breaking it open.

Migo is freed from his cage and reunites with his friends and family. He thanks Percy for saving him and tells him that he is now friends with him. He also apologizes to the Stonekeeper for defying him and tells him that he was right about the humans being dangerous. However, he also says that he believes that there is still hope for peace between the two species, and that they should try to understand each other better. The Stonekeeper is moved by Migo's words and admits that he was wrong to lie to the yetis and keep them isolated. He says that he is proud of Migo for being brave and curious, and that he is willing to give the humans a chance. He then removes his stone robe and reveals his true appearance, which is much smaller and older than he pretended to be. He tells the yetis that they are free to explore the world and learn from it, as long as they are careful and respectful. The yetis and the humans then start to interact with each other, overcoming their fear and prejudice. They discover that they have many things in common, such as music, dancing, and family. They also learn from each other's differences, such as language, culture, and technology. They begin to form friendships and bonds, and celebrate their diversity. The film ends with Migo and Meechee singing a song together, expressing their love for each other and their hope for the future. They are joined by Percy, Brenda, Emma, Dorgle, Gwangi, Kolka, Fleem, the Stonekeeper, and the rest of the yetis and humans. They all dance and have fun in the stadium, while fireworks light up the sky. Cast
